Starting Therapy
-
Mostly, we talk. You share what you're comfortable sharing, I ask questions that help me understand what life is like from inside your experience, and we start building the map together. You don't need to prepare anything or tell your whole story on day one. You set the pace; that's not a courtesy, it's the method.
-
Completely. Some of my favorite work is with people who are brand new to this. There's no fluency requirement, no right way to do it, and no expectation that you arrive with the vocabulary. If you show up as you are, you're doing it right.
-
Not at all. Figuring that out is part of the work, and not something you have to do alone. "Something needs to change and I don't know what" is a perfectly good starting point.
-
Much of my work is with those who identify as female, but my practice is open to anyone who wants to do this kind of work. If what you've read here resonates, that matters more than any demographic.
-
Absolutely. This is a gender-affirming, LGBTQ+ affirming space, and you're welcome here exactly as you are.
I work with clients across the spectrum of gender and sexuality, including folks who are transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, gender-fluid, questioning, or exploring what fits. Your identity is not something we need to fix, explain, or work around. It's simply part of who you are.
I'll use the name and pronouns you use for yourself. If your identity or how the world responds to it is part of what brings you in, we can hold that together. If it's not, that's okay too. You get to decide what we focus on.
-
Not at all. I'm a first-generation woman of color, and some clients come to me because parts of that experience don't need explaining. But you don't have to share any of my story for this to be your place. My practice welcomes people of every racial and cultural background, gender orientation, sexuality, religion, age, and ability.
-
Not if you don’t want to. We’ll use the approaches that fit you, when you're ready, with your consent at every step. Plenty of sessions are simply two people talking, and your “no” is always a complete answer. EMDR is not a required modality, we choose it together, if it is right for you.
-
I won't pretend there's a universal number of hours, and I won't string you along. Some people come for a season, to address something specific. Others stay longer, because the work keeps earning its place. Progress isn't linear; it moves fast, then feels slow, and that's normal. We'll check in regularly about how it's going. Some of the best work happens after the urgent things are taken care of, and your system has the space to notice and give time to more deeply rooted patterns.
-
Honesty, delivered with care. Your pace and your consent. The belief that you make sense, that your struggles began as protection, and that you're the expert of your own lived experience. Using science to relieve shame, never to create distance. And the belief that being truly seen is where change starts.

I hold a limited number of reduced-fee spots. If cost is the thing standing in the way, ask. The worst I can say is "not right now."

Life happens, and sometimes plans change. Here's how cancellations work so we're both on the same page.
I ask for 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. You won't be charged a fee for canceling, and the more notice you can give, the better. When I know early, I can often offer that time to someone else who needs it.
Every client gets a one-time exception for a late cancellation or no-show, no questions asked. After that, a $120 fee applies to any cancellation made with less than 48 hours' notice or a missed session.
To cancel or reschedule, just text or email me. A quick message is all I need.
-
Text me and let me know.
If you're not there 5 minutes in, I'll send a quick email nudge, because sometimes it's just a lost meeting link or traffic. After 10 minutes, the session counts as missed and the full fee applies. If something genuinely out of your control happened, talk to me.
